Dear students,
Yesterday we learned about framing in decision making. How would you see a problem in decision making? Accuracy in setting up your frame of reference ensures the quality of your decision making. How would you ensure that yours is the accurate one? Yes by seeking information as much as you can.
Yes, the question of expertise is very relevant here. Those who achieve that level possess an accurate frame of mind as all his or her experiences enrich his/her ability in making decisions. And the issue of sharing the frame to ensure a good group decision making, we learned about the very important practice of exchanging views and ideas with each other. Having a common culture looks like solving the problem of having conflicting ideas, but it may not be necessarily true as different individuals construct their own unique experience in life, so the frame may not be exactly similar.
I am sure that everyone enjoyed watching the slideshow called 'The Window' and 'Optical Illusion', didn't you? The window tells us to have the right frame of mind before judging others and the optical illusion illutrates the importance of being alert in detecting signs that distort your frame of thinking. I noticed that everyone was looking very interested during the slideshows. And thank you as well for giving the big hand as your sign of appreciation.

Week 2
We cannot run away from facing any problem. We face all kinds of conflict in our lives, e.g. self conflict, marriage and etc. In all the situations, we need to make a decision that is accurate and flexible.The decision made is very important to free oneself from problems.
To solve problem, we need to analyze the problem Our ability to analyse the problem depends on our knowledge and expertise. If we have the expertise, the decision making becomes easy for us because after years and years of experience, we could possibly solve the problem without much effort. Reflective thinking is also important in making decisions. It helps you to creatively search for solutions.
We did discuss the limitations and strengths of individual and collective decision making, didn't we? Yes, individual DM is fast but could only draw knowledge from one individual whereas in collective DM knowledge and expertise are pooled and shared in order to solve problems.
Oh yeah, of course we role played brainstroming session. Two questions that I put regarding the use of paperclips and old newspapers were creatively solved by some groups. That was fun isn't it? Hope to see you again next week. Please do start your assignment on chapter summary.

Week 1
Dear students,
In our first lecture, I briefed you about everything you need to know about the course, especially the evaluation and the coverage. Just to let you know that I appreciate very much your very good participation in the session.
The intro part of the DMS course we have learned about definition, mistakes we normally do in making decisions. We also learned about the use of graphic and oral management in decision making. We also had very good work activities in which everyone has to participate.
Do you still remember about categories of decisions and the four styles? You do? Good, this shows that you understood it very well. However if you don't please feel free to e-mail me or send any comment to this blog and i am very ha[ppy to reply it. I hope you enjoyed what you have learned, that's make you able to learn.
